Mundelein Balagokulam visited Manor Care, Nursing in Libertyville

HSS Mundelein Balagokulam visited Manor Care, Nursing in Libertyville , IL on Sunday Oct 28, 2007. Mundelein Balagokulam has introduced social awareness among young American Hindu children.

The kids prepared flowers from tissue papers and wrote inspirational quotes, during the visit at the Nursing home, kids recited Shanti Mantra and meaning and read inspirational quotes and gave the colorful flower. Children recited Shanti mantra and the message. The message and the flower was pinned at the patient’s bulletin board. All the elder patients and their staff were very happy.  Seniors commented that so far they are aware Hindu community in their neighborhood, this is the first time they came into understanding of Hindu culture. 

Pragnaben Mehta (81 years) patient was extremely delightful to see the Hindu culture coming to the Nursing Home and said, “My blessings and best wishes to you all for taking time and thinking about us, please do come oftenly.”

“Thank you very much for providing Shyam (9) and me with the opportunity to talk to the elderly people at the Manor Nursing Home. Shyam was inspired to help people after meeting so many people who had disabilities and illnesses. After we left, I felt very happy that I had received a chance to make so many people’s day better. Volunteering here has encouraged me to be more involved in the community and provide service to people that is less fortunate. This experience has changed my perspective about my life and I realize how lucky I am. Again, thank you for this chance to brighten the elderly people’s days.” Said Sonya Dave (13) of Lindenhurst

Alla Beylin, Director of Activity was thankful and greatly appreciated to Balagokulam children, volunteers of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh and has requested to come again.
